Dr. D's Barbeque Bacon Jam

Ingredients

  • 1 lb bacon
  • 1 medium white onion, finely diced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup Dr. D’s Original Barbeque Sauce (plus more if needed)

    Cook the bacon

    Add the bacon to a large skillet and cook over medium heat until crispy. Transfer bacon to a paper towel-lined plate to drain. Once cooled, roughly chop and set aside.

    Cook the diced onion

    Carefully pour off excess bacon fat, reserving 2–3 tablespoons in the skillet. Add the diced onion and cook over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally, until caramelized (~15 minutes).

    Add garlic

    Add the garlic and sauté for 2–3 minutes, stirring constantly, just until fragrant. Do not let the garlic brown.

    Add bacon and Dr. D's Original Barbeque Sauce

    Stir in the chopped bacon and Dr. D’s Original Barbeque Sauce. Reduce heat to low and simmer, stirring occasionally, until the mixture thickens and reduces to a jam-like consistency (~10 minutes). Add additional sauce if needed to reach desired consistency.

    Cool and serve

    Remove from heat and allow to cool. The jam will thicken as it cools. Serve warm or at room temperature on smoked cream cheese with crackers, burgers, brats, grilled chicken, or as part of a charcuterie board.
